Excellent! I don't use step-ups and I always tie signal earth to chassis earth through a 10 ohm resistor at input.Brian....
Gordon Rankin of Wavelength Audio did a series of one-stage DHTs with a step-up transformer input about ten years ago. I think they were called the Mercury series. By all accounts, they sounded good, but of course had limited gain, ...

I double checked and everything seems connected ok. all parts values are correct. I have measured the voltage across R2 and it was 208V so 208v / 15k = 13.86mA. I connected 1r resistor between M and R2 and it was 14mA. also connected 1r resistor betw...

Hi Romy,I've been reading the 6e6p-dr datasheet and it seems as though pin 8 (a shield) is recommended to be tied to a lower negative voltage than the tube cathode. Have you bothered or experimented with this? This is no problem in the DHT Channel ...

Welcome Sean19, Another member should correct me where I am wrong. There should be some tweeters that just start emitting in their proper frequency range and do not need a crossover. They might need a resistor so that they are volume balanced to ...

Amir,R2R Discrete, means it uses the good "old" resistor ladder instead of a DAC chip. There is more info here. But you can find more around the internet.Cheers....

Sorry Romy, I was not clear enough, but the resistor that I am questioning is in the Fundamentals Channel (not the MF Channel as I believe you referred to in your previous post) between the OPT and the S2....

Positive voltage supply does nothing but balance zero volts at impost. You can go for "pure" implementation and to get a dedicated PS of you can take voltage from any positive voltage, let say from B+ of a driver tube, use voltage divider and drive w...

Finalizing parts ordering for full range Melquiades and I have one thing with is unclear to me, the plate to grid resistor on the 6E5PIs R23 50R is this correct ?There is another R23 in the driver power supply .http://www.goodsoundclub.com/PDF/Me...
Hi Romy,i want to use the 6E6P-DR (triode mode) as driver in my tube 45 amp.I use a D3A (triode mode) with Anode choke at 180V, 12mA. Grid 2 is connected via 50 Ohm resistor to anode. Grid 3 (pin 8) is connected to cathode.Th...
Is this because of the way you are driving them? When testing my one completed mid-bass horn (AK151 into 40Hz Exponential with 8" throat), and powering it from an amp that drives everything from upper bass to HF, the output...

I haven't played with the loadings yet, as I'm still in the deep woods of the assemblyand a hunt for an intelligent SUT. But the primary loading scares mewith it's super sensitivity to the resistor quality, value, etc.Anyway, I'm somehow optimistic t...

Work has been so crazy busy all last year and through these strange times right now that I have not been having any time to think about the audio project let alone indulge in advancing it. One DSET/Macondo has been playing mono and I have really bee...

Anthony,
First of all, I would like to congratulate you on making your amplifier. I have been following your build from the beginning and now that I am building my own amp, I appreciate your work even more. I admire your plan a...

First, Adrian, Thanks for your feedback on the newer designed 2A3 tubes... very interesting. I've looked at all 3 of these brands before but have not as of yet purchased any (I have a large collection of 45 and 2A3 of various NOS US brands...
In my upcoming DH Milq MF DSET I will have an Innerstage transformer and output transformer. The loading of output tube has known effect to harmonics vs. transients, it is know, it is predicable and it is manageable. The In...

Jessie,
I was trying to evaluate the gain of my amplification in respect to larger room and again was thinking about your case. I think something that you do it not correct. You are complaining that you have not enough gain in upperbass, but I...
As a way of forcing myself to see the thing as a whole, I will start by converting this schematic to a 3D CAD model, illustrating each component and its relation to the others (with more distance between the parts than in ...
In here is not the value are important but the concept the you block DC not with capacitor but with an “active” resistor that backed up with positive voltage. BTW, eventually if you wish to go “kinky Milq” and have a v...

Contemplating now how to organize biasing for 3 singe stages of my 6-chanls amp I was faced the dilemma: do I need to bias my tubes. The 6E5P/6E6P are Russian tubes and it means that are very different right from the boxes. The Milq, driver tubes, be...
Thats the kind of stuff I was hoping for. I appreciate the help with this, there seems to be a scarcity of horn related discussion on the web and its proving hard to learn the ropes. One other unrelated question that could save me a l...
Paul,I suppose that new vs old between the 45 and RE604 could account for some differences, but it's more of an "apples to oranges" comparison. Pushing the 45 beyond it's ratings is not a great idea... especially the cat...

Hm, I was playing with options to get rid the 3dB divider in the MF channel input and I realized that I was a moron somewhere. I was operating under presumption that I was getting 2V on the driver cathode in MF channel that made the swing voltage...

The precision of those inductors is very much irrelevant – it would be easy to fine-tine the filter with the value of the resistor. There is a bigger fish to fry – the benefits of LR filter.
If we are taking about high-pass filter then there are no ...

trying to copy a known good solution - too little time for experiments recently.
Well, Romy had great results with the Placette and his Dannoys, so that is the known good solution as far as I am con...
Celsius, I do not know what CCS you impended, did you drive 6e5p’s plate with constant current source?*1 I also do not know/like 6e5p with battery bias. The only application that I find 6e5p suitable was the Milq-style bi...

Well, they technically not Lpads but juts regular attenuators
even though they connected in “protective mode”. You can go with stabilized impedance
to maintain the high pass filter over the coupling capacitor to work properly

I was asked for more information on my power supply regulator, which allows the original 100V power line (Japan) to be plugged directly into a 120V line (US), while greatly smoothing the ripple going to the motor.
